  1. At least as engaging as any of these is 'Winchester Whisperer'. Check it out - it is the bee's knees, or as I would say, the 'mutt's nuts'..

  2. BBC running a Cameron did drugs at Eton when 15 story from Mail on Sunday

  3. A woman writing about a house move. How rivetting. And she's moving all the way two miles down the lane. I've moved countries and didn't think it was worth gifting the world with a faux wry account of it. How pathetic.

  4. Oh just p!ss off verity - your tawdry attempts at being the 'shock jock' might have an appeal in the states; it has no appeal at all here.

Blogs are a reflection of life - in this case the lady in question can actually write and communicate - you clearly cannot. Or perhaps you will tell us what your blog is called and we can be equally sarcastic to you.

Her bad day episode last week was one of the funniest things I read on the web last week - can you do better ?

  5. Verity, dearest, You might think that aspiring to be Ann Coulter will make you wealthy and popular - well if so I suggest you take off to the US of A and leave us dull and boring Brits to enjoy yourselves reading Iain Dale, cycling to church through the mist, sleeping with old maids and drinking warm beer while listening to John Major on Radio 4 - or something like that. Babe, slagging off other girls who are far wittier, more attractive and intelligent than you is neither big, nor clever nor funny.

    Take your vapid tedium elsewhere.

  6. Ah, Iain, I am so pleased to see that globetrotter verity, the polymath who is clearly on a higher intellectual plane than mere men like ourselves has arrived to bring our attention to our narrow-minded parochialism.

I am so glad - and there was me thinking that travel broadened the mind..

  7. Oh, verity, your light in the sky has illuminated how inconsequential our lives were before you came along and the Damascene conversion to your worship must now start with us taking in every word of wisdom that you wish to share with us of your experience and knowledge of this wide world we live in, and of which we have so little knowledge in comparison with yours. Please start sharing your divine wisdom with us tonight, for it is pissing down with rain outside, and we are desperate for you to enlighten the dark recesses of our ignorant mind with your vastly superior knowledge of the world gained through your intelligence, your courtesy, tact and world-class diplomacy. Hail !!

  8. Verity - no doubt you will be happy to give the benefit of your world class critical faculties to the blog of 'Winchester Whisperer' who is far more intelligent, erudite and literate than some others I could mention - or will it be beyond you to be able to find a complimentary word about another woman ??

  9. So there you have it Verity - in spades!

    What say you?

  10. Well, well Anonymous, off you go again spitting fire every three minutes. Why don't you take a cold shower, as I happen to think you need to cool off. Verity has a perfect right to her view without you trying to get your blog rate up. Anyway smart arse, how do you know that Ann Coulter is more attractive, or have you added clairvoyance to your repertoire of mindless fury.

  11. >BBC running a Cameron did drugs at Eton when 15 story from Mail on Sunday

    Pathetic, Isn't it?

    Quiet news day.

  12. >A woman writing about a house move. How rivetting. And she's moving all the way two miles down the lane.

Perhaps you're right Verity. Hardly my idea of interesting reading material but then.. each to their own!

When I was in Oz, many people were keeping a journal of their travels, I never thought It necessary.

People blog for a variety of reasons, mine is for me to put down my thoughts on whatever has pissed me off or amused me that day.

She probably has her own reasons and I doubt she is intending for much of an audience either.

I just wish people would start digging out blogs which were a bit more representative of the real world rather than some obviously rather affluent, educated housewife! We've enough of that with WebCameron (only kidding Dave!)

As for those having a pop at Verity, go on, have a night off!

Oh.. Iain - BTW, your banner keeps loading new pages each time you click it.. shouldn't it just reload?

Verity is Verity and is respected and appreciated by many whilst you are anonymous and apparently a bit of a knob.
Read my blog and find out the sordid details of Blunketts latest sexual shenanigans.

  14. To: Anonimo, Anonimo, Anonimo, Anonimo, Anonimo and Peter from Putney - This story, of a house move, written by a housewife with supposed wry humour, has been told 90m times. It is boring. It is trite. She has nothing new to say about moving house. Nada. Zilch. Rien. This is a well-trodden path.

The lady thinks it is interesting because she thinks she is interesting. If you agree, then enjoy her blog. The intricasies of her life leave me chilled with boredom.

Anonimo asks if it would be beyond me to compliment another woman. Well, I don't rate people's minds by their sex. The question flags up your sexism, though. If a man said he didn't enjoy a post that happened to be written by another man, would you ask if it was beyond him to compliment other men? No? I didn't think so.

Anonimo dijo: "your tawdry attempts at being the 'shock jock' might have an appeal in the states; it has no appeal at all here." By "the states" I assume you mean the States. Why bring the United States into this lady's attempts to get an offer to write a book, or better yet a TV series? What has America got to do with it? People think I'm American, and I am sure you use the word "American" in disapproval. (That tells me you've never been there,by the way.)

By the way, your violent overreaction to my writing something you disagree with, Anonimo, does argue a certain male insecurity. I don't share your judgement. You will have to live with that.

Interesting that you put my boredom with this lady's writing, Anonimo, down to jealousy. If you didn't like, oh, let us say Thomas Sowell, wouldn't you be simply amazed if I discounted your considered opinion and ascribed your lack of interest in his work to envy of Mr Sowell? Do realise how infantile this is?

Peter from Putney races in with a killer point: "Well, there you have it - in spades!" Not really. I have it in immature insecurity and bruised egos. (Are you migrants from Guido's blog, by the way?)

Housewives' diaries are not my cup of tea.

  15. I am terribly sorry everyone for my terribly negative post at 8.25, which quite rightly prompted a number of negative replies. OK I am going to come clean. I am a very lonely woman whose only company is 42 cats and a bottle of whiskey. My self esteem is very low, and consequently I tend to lash out at stranger on the internet rather than deal with my own issues. I have moved from country to country, only to find that 'I' am still there. You can imagine that this is very disappointing. So, there you have it. Please do accept my most humble apologies.

  16. Iain that tie it has to go ,did you buy it from ASDA if you have the reciept you can return it ,
you only mentioned 18D once ,you know the BBC advertise ,enjoyed anyway.

  17. Anonymous, I'll have you know that tie cost £45 and is worth every penny!

  18. Well, 'Verity', your hijacking my handle proves my point. Do you often travel under a female identity or are you just another Guido camp follower?

You're inadequate and angry. How furious do you have to be to think you're scoring a point by posting as someone else on the internet? You're an inadequate little man.

You are John Prescott and I claim my five pounds!

  19. This is among the most interesting remarks in the "Nuggets".

"We are now in a very curious time in British politics, similar in its sense of unreality to the so-called phoney war during the winter of 1939/40 - that unearthly period between the formal outbreak of hostilities...and the engagement of troops.

The old structures are being dismantled, and the Blairite armies have, for the most part, fled or sued for peace. Brown's tanks are mustered on the border, but have not yet made their move.

It now looks likely that we will have to wait .... until Gordon Brown moves into Downing Street. But when he does, there are growing signs we will see the start of a reworking in the architecture of British politics which may ... turn out to be more profound than the one which caused Tony Blair to sweep to power in 1997."

The electorate gave Blair and progressive, centrist policies the current parliamentary majority, not the Labour Party whose control is the source of Brown's claim to the premiership.

We aren't going to like having a statist fat controller using powers he never won from the country, particularly when representing a Scottish seat whose electors are safe from his command and control policies.

There really should be a general election when Blair ceases to lead the Labour Party.

  20. One feels that whilst 'verity' may have a point, the 'How Pathetic' line might best be saved for people who are churning this sort of stuff out but have the audacity to do so in the columns they are paid for handsomely.

In no particular order, and to show that I am not sexist, these include:

    Dom Joly
    Hugh Fearnley Whittingstall
    Barbara Ellen

    and last, but not least...

Jon Ronson, Great author, writes good articles, but his columns are complete and utter b*!!*@ks.

As someone wrote in yesterday's paper 'He is very green, as this is the fourth time he has recycled this story into his column.'

Perhaps verity could be given a weekly slot to 'name and shame' the worst examples of the genre ?

  22. Jailhouselawyer, it's not appropriate for you to advertise your own blog here. Sorry that no-one ever goes to your blog, but it's no excuse.

    ReplyDelete
  23. anonymong @12.55: I don't need to advertise my blog. However, the story is worthy of a wider readership as none of the main parties appear to be aware of what is going on under their noses. Therefore, it is a nugget...

  24. Interesting, that Oborne revelation that Cameron is trying to woo Lord Owen. I'm sure a previous Tory leader tried that, but I can't quite remember her name. Any help, anyone?
