An Example of Fine Blogging from Wife in the North
Read THIS. Then THIS. Prepare to be moved. Why can't all bloggers write this well?
Thank's for directing me to this blog Iain. As you say, it is excellent. It is obvious that this is a very intelligent, possibly high flying type of lady, yet she writes in a very profound style, with a great deal of honesty and just a hint of innocence. I found it very refreshing and thought provoking. The blog is excellent thereapy for the likes of myself, (angry, manic, moronic nutter). If I see Victor Meldrew on the TV, it's like looking in a mirror. I wasn't like this until Blair and his cronies were elected. Very sad! However ,life is life and we must carry on regardless.
I would thoroughly endorse your comments, on Wife in the Northb as a blog to visit.
Iain, there's writing as though constructing a novel, and there's blogging. This dame has attempted to cross-breed the two. I admire her artistic ambition, but the result is a strange hybrid. A little like putting on an Ascot hat to go to Tesco.
Ho ho young Dale you cannot fail to have noticed that the WOTN fawning courtier society had Newmania whithin its merry throng already.
She is terrific . On the other hand had she not been a girl she would not have been given such alot of exposure. Still a vast improvement on podgy "co presenter" Rachel. Why not cast her and her weedy Liberal twittering into darkness and replace her with the excellent wife of the North.
She is funny and sweet. In my imagination she is also a spicy meatball in an M and S presentation pack. Yummy..serving suggestions are many and varied.
That story saddened me immensely, it was very poignant, almost poetic. I must admit to following a previous link of yours to the wife; and hadn't been that impressed, I now stand corrected.
If this is your concept of good writing the I can only suggest that you dig up Quiller-Couch's five books on English literature and spend a few weeks absorbing them.
The Wife's idea of "interactive" seems to be "I have had experience X. Have you any experience of X?" Good heavens, is she a teacher of eight-year olds?
I dunno. You can't.

Nifty layout too, with nice Victorian pictures. Very tasteful.

ReplyDeleteMostly as we have more motivation than talent. Its a constant battle with the spell checker for me - good writing is accidental at best.
ReplyDeleteThere could be a lesson in here for Guido...
ReplyDeleteI'm with og here. She has a pretty way with words but says very little.
ReplyDeleteIain -

This isn't a blog; it's vanity publishing. And it's nice, but it's pointless and not really worth reading.
ReplyDelete"it's pointless and not really worth reading. "
ReplyDeletebut Verity, you WILL keep on writing the stuff!
In the midst of reams of low-grade empty-headed rant, suddenly they all go bloody lit-crit on the poor woman.
ReplyDeleteBleed'n'ell!
Verity - set up a blog and I promise to blogroll you. Honest injun.
