And the Pot, Kettle, Black Award Goes to...
In his morning briefing today, the Prime Minister's Official Spokesman complained about the briefing by the Police on Cash for Honours. Never sow unless you are also prepared to reap.

I did not know the police were supposed to be a political opposition to the government. I thought they were supposed to be out of the political sphere entirely. Is this a pledge from Tory A-lister that David Cameron supports political police?
It's clearly the Labour line for the day, as I heard a Labour MP interviewed on this on 5 Live driving the same point very hard. Presumably the tactic is designed to discredit the whole police enquiry.

Why cannot we have these briefers NAMED as in the US. This silly game of trteating the Press Officer as if he was head of MI5 is a joke

I'm sure he IS a joke. Whether or not he's also running MI5, I'm not totally sure but, under Blair, who knows?
