Talking Politics with Heffer and Hitchens

I've just got back from taking part in a Radio 4 programme called TALKING POLITICS, which will be transmitted on Saturday at 11am. My fellow panelists were Joan Smith from the Independent, Simon Heffer and Peter Hitchens. I don't know if I was imagining it or not, but I got the distinct impression that both Heffer and Hitchens were starting to mellow a bit in their anti-Cameron criticism. I think there is a fine line between criticising everything for the sake of it and being constructive. I detected a willingness to be more constructive from both of them. I hope 2007 will prove me right!

  1. Oh you meejah star. Next thing you know, you'll be having that nice Mr Blair and his delightful wife coming to stay.

  2. It's all very well being constructive. And it's such a reasonable-sounding word. But if you've a government to demolish a little aggression might not be entirely out of place....

  3. When you have Joan Smith in the room I could only imagine Hitchens and Heffer would seem mellow in comparison

  4. Many of us long for a change in government, and would like to support Dave Cameron but...

Firstly it is rather difficult to be constructive when Cameron is busy trying to copy Bludger Blair even down to the faux celeb status. That strategy used to be called shooting yourself in the foot.

And secondly, not a week goes by without some idiotic distancing exercise. This week we are praising that odious little gobshite Aneurin Bevan before Lady Thatcher and Sir Winston Churchill. (And for the record Nye didn't invent the NHS before you Labour toads out there start croaking)

  6. I doubt they have changed their views so much as being careful for the sake of helping the Conservatives at the next election
