You can now vote in my latest end of year poll for your Political Broadcast Journalist of the Year. See the poll in the left hand column. Voting will be open for the next 24 hours. The results of all these polls will be published between Christmas and the New Year.
UPDATE: I have just realised thanks to a reader, that I have included two James Landales in the poll. I'm told by his female admirers that there aren't enough James Landales to go around...
I voted for Andrew Neil, but I wanted to vote for Martha Kearney because she has such a cute smile.
ReplyDelete(I suppose that would not have been germane to the spirit of the pole, but I just don't fancy Andrew as much)
Here's a loony left MP that years ago would have been in Labour.
ReplyDeleteMs Gidley is these days a Lib Dem.

"Romsey MP Sandra Gidley wants to do away with school sports days because of the trauma it inflicts on the little darlings who finish last."
I'm worried the votes will be split between James Landale and James Landale.
ReplyDeleteI trust you are taking the piss by including Daisy McAndrew on the list?
ReplyDeleteI have to wonder how much of bribe Jon Sopel paid to be included on the list?
ReplyDeleteHe is one of the few people that could give politicians lessons in how to talk for hours without saying a meaningful word.
nice to see andrew neil voting for himself so often. go, girl!
ReplyDeleteand cathy newman? the last time i saw someone look that uncomfortable in front of a camera, they were having their mugshot taken.
Wot no Paxo? How is he disqualified?
ReplyDeleteThis is a bit feeble. If you are going to include Carolyn Quinn, why not Eddie Mair ?
ReplyDeleteAnd if Michael Crick is 'in' why is Paul Mason 'out' ?
And where are John Humphrys / Sarah Montague / James Naughtie / Gavin Esler ??
morning star - you clearly didn't see jon sopel haranguing Patricia Hewitt then ? I thought he was excellent - just because he doesn't have the pizazz of Paxman or the smugness of Brillo doesn't mean he can't do his job...
ReplyDeleteAnonymous at 4.21. Sigh. There's always one killjoy isn't there? Since when was Paul Mason a political journalist? Carolyn Quinmn is a political journalist who presents sometimes. The others are all presenters. And I could only fit 20 in.
ReplyDeleteIain,
ReplyDeleteNever mind Humph and all that lot...
What about that guy called Iain Dale on 18DS?
Iain,
ReplyDeleteIt's a shame you didn't include Nick Clarke. There might be risk of it turning into a tribute poll (and of course he wasn't around all that much this year) but relistening to his approach to interviewing during the R4 tributes really gave an amazing glimpse of where the Humphries, Paxmans (Paxmen?), &c. are going wrong.
Scoff.
Where was Humphreys in the list?
ReplyDeletePeople criticise his shirty tone but when he isn't on the Today programme the interviews are so lame and uncritical I find it difficult to listen.
