LibDem Blogger Expelled from the Party...Or Is She?
Earlier in the week LibDem Voice ran a story about Islington LibDem blogger Susanne Lamido (of Suzblog fame) being expelled from the Party. Strangely I can't see it any longer on their site. I emailed the effervescent Ms Lamido so she could spread some light on it but answer came their none. Even more strangely, nothing has been mentioned on her own blog. Indeed, today she is positively crowing about the LibDems winning a council by election in her patch. Has she not been told she's been expelled? Perhaps my LibDem friends (I do have them, you know!)could shed some light on this important matter of State...
You've been very quiet about the whole Bob Piper incident.
ReplyDeleteIs it because he's a friend of yours?
Christ! It's Vicky Pollard from Little Britain! No, but, yeah but...
ReplyDeleteTorylady, don't know what you are referring to. Haven't looked at his blog this week. Maybe I better had!
ReplyDeleteWell if he reads that comment he's not going to be your friend anymore. Just say you read it daily but the RSS feed broke or something!
ReplyDeleteOne could just as easily ask: 'Welsh Tory Dinosaur Expelled from Candidate List... Is He or Isn't He?'
ReplyDeleteIt's David Davies's Dad again. And Nick Bourne still can't get rid of him.
Do Lib Dems expel their people? Do they have any beliefs or principles to be offended? You could have fooled me! Surely the prime requirement for membership and activism is being a maverick, a misfit, a moaner, a claptrap-ist?
ReplyDeleteObviously Lib Dems do do de-selections. As they did to poor Yasmin Zalzala in the eponymous Withington patch. Apparently one of Leech's coterie of stop-at-nothing supporters stated, including in writing, that she was hopeless as a candidate being as she was black (well actually an Iraqi refugee after the first Gulf War), muslim, and er a woman.
Is Suze getting hers for being a bit of a girl?
Iain, I hope you'll forgive me for saying this, but I think this is another non-story.
ReplyDeleteIf this was a 'gentleman's club' such as the Royal Automobile Club, the Athenaeum or the Garrick, then 'being expelled' might have some serious consequences. Like not being able to spend the evening with your old chums from school, having a lovely supper, followed by spotted dick and a fine brandy and cigars.
What would the Lib Dems do ? Come around and take away her members' card so she couldn't go to one of their exciting seaside conferences ?
Threaten to send Charles Kennedy around for a chat if she blogs something 'unhelpful' to Ming the Merciless.
Forgive my rudeness, I'm not having a go at you; it's just that I can't see how being expelled from them is such a big deal - it might even be a blessing in disguise, especially if there was a danger she might end up as a prospective parliamentary MP.
It's been bugging me and now I know. The picture.
ReplyDeleteShe looks a bit like Vicky Pollard.
More like Emily Howard!
ReplyDeleteThey do for believing in economic liberalism or opposing attacking other countries or supporting nuclear power. It is an amusing process.
ReplyDeleteNothing wrong with being a maverick or even a misfit seeing the sort of parties we are expected to fit ourselves to.
The post from Lib Dem Voice you mention can still be read here:

Rob Fenwick the little s..... He doesn't like Susanne so he would delight in passing on any gossip.
ReplyDeleteHe is part of the LibDem Apollo project and they do nothing but shit-stir
A dicky bird said for the answer to this one ask Cllr Fiyaz Mughal from Haringay and Dominic Mathon, President of Islington's local party

ReplyDeleteNot particularly clever comments, not especially accurate and not notably salient.
Given that I was the only neutral present when the deed was done, I'd like to think that I can accurately summate the true position. However, in order to preserve Susanne's right to privacy, I'll not comment publicly unless she asks me to.
