A History of the Middle East in 90 Seconds
This is quite extraordinary - a graphic illustration of 5,000 years of Middle East history in 90 seconds. Click HERE.
I noticed the state of Israel quite early on in the game but didn't quite catch a sniff of any Palestinian state. I'd like to formally lodge a complaint, re-write history and have a few shekels on the side deposited by the governments of the west into my Zurich bank account immediately.
Failure to co-operate will lead to as many years of bloodshed as it takes to establish me as one of top ten wealthiest leaders of a country despite the abject poverty of my people.
Yours Yasser.
P.S. Any cash prizes knocking about (Nobel would do) ?
I did notice the State of Israel quite early on in the game but not a whiff of a mention for the illustrious state of Palestine. Please correct this immediately.
Failure to co-operate will lead to decades of bloodshed and a few shekels on the side deposited to my Zurich account until I am one of the worlds wealthiest leaders despite the abject poverty of my people.
Yours Yasser.
PS, Any big cash prizes (Nobel'll do nicely) would be gratefully appreciated.
So, errm, who are the independent countries? Descendants of the conquerors, methinks. And who was there before them all? Still, nothing like putting things into perspective. The need to rewrite history becomes very clear.
Cantankerous people surrounded by madmen. The great question to ask when we die is "Why in your name did you choose to be born Jewish, in Bethlehem? Things could have been so much easier (and quieter) if you were English and born in, say, Guildford" I worry about a drama queen God.
I thought it was going to be a map of Birmingham, and how to get around the Spagetti Junction!
ReplyDeletePity it was a little fast to show the 1967 land grab by Israel in a great amount of detail...
ReplyDeleteForgot the Bush-Blair bit at the end.

Have they taken it down?? Not available ... service difficulties ....
ReplyDeleteBrilliant
ReplyDelete"Service temporarily unavailable" - trouble in the Middle East?
ReplyDeleteWhat a pity Blair was not shown that before he attacked Iraq.
ReplyDeleteUm.
ReplyDeleteI think they missed out Tamerlane..... he destroyed a lot of cities in Iraq, too.
Hatfield Girl - He wouldn't have been able to sit still and quiet for that long.

ReplyDeleteThere should have been a little blip at the end, American Empire or whatever. Quickly followed by Greater Iran.
ReplyDeleteI'd love to make a comment but try as I may I just get a blank screen when I click on the link.
ReplyDeleteI got it to play this time and it is brilliant. Let's hope the Hittites don't want their motherland back.
ReplyDeleteI wonder what the next few centuries will bring for that region.
You missed out the commentary by Robert Fisk
ReplyDeleteThank you Iain, that was a wonderful animation.
ReplyDeleteBtw, also look here, losely related but worth looking at closer:
