And the Latest from the Foreign Office...
... Is that Ian McCartney is now unavailable and the Defence Secretary Des Browne is answering the UQ. He is reported to be less than delighted. Joined up government is what I think they used to call it...
How long before we abandon the "talking to the enemy" strategy in favour of an attack on Iran? Maybe they are all putting their heads together to summon up another dossier to support Tone's new view of old neighbours. Tone seems to have had his Dr Chesney Mind Gym re-programming whilst in Washington....
I don't do faces. Who is the old bloke who is wearing Walter Monkton glasses, and a moustache, who looks like a member of the Baldwin government, stage left of William Hague?
"Why does the Foreign Secretary remind one of the ghost of montgomery of Alamein without a hat? Will she confirm that should there be a need to conduct an armoured strike on Tripoli she will be in the first Caravan or alternately head up the Camel reserve?
Her reply to the latter is expected to be that despite Mandelson's attempts at liberalisation the government has clamped down on the unauthorised entry to the UK of foreign fags.
Can anyone think of a sensible use that you'd put Ian mcCartney forward for, other than to drop on top of Hazel Blears if she fell down a particularly tight man-hole?
Iraq burns, Iran acquires Nuclear weapons, the NHS deficits widen, patients die of MRSA, family breakdown worsens, interest rates rise, unemployment rises, the government makes statements, appears concerned on TV, attacks the Tories and talks a lot but there is nothing to do, it's an empty burnt-out shell
...the government fiddles whilst waiting for Gordon
whilst
...Blair scrabbles in the dust and wreckage of his government to secure his legacy
The fact that Bush is asking for alternate advice to that given in the ISG's report has me thinking that Blair will soon be making a u turn on his governments Iraq policy.
It worries me where Bush will get his information after reading THIS

I hear that once he's sorted out the missus, Alan Pardew will be filling the gap!

ReplyDeleteIs is a ghost?
Perhaps they should recall Geoff 'Buff' Hoon - he got us into this mess..
ReplyDeleteIain, did Des Browne just say that he thought the Iraqi army disbanded it self?
ReplyDeletebetter be a good question
ReplyDeleteI can assure you it is a good question:

Reminds me of that old trick, 'those who want to volunteer, step forward' then everyone else expect Des Browne steps backward a pace...
ReplyDeleteIan is not unavailable... They have put a new deep pile carpet down.
ReplyDelete(OKOK I know its not PC but I'm short enough myself to get away with it)

It doesn't really matter if McCartney is available or not - he's a eunuch
