UKIP probably have a point after this weeks con by the European Court on duty. This corrupt organisation does nothing for the citizens of Europe and it is not what was decided in the 70's referrendum. At the very least we should have a say if we even stay in it now

If Noel Edmonds has made this statement in an attempt to shake off his 'chunky jumper / nicey' image, he's picked on the wrong target ... I think that almost all of us agree with this statement ... it's just not controversial enough to be an image-breaker !

Might I take this opportunity to remind the Tories that it was not Polly Toynbee but Winston Churchill who, in 1910, introduced legislative proposals for reducing the scale of imprisonment. It is worth repeating part of his famous speech, as it appears that the Tories are floundering about in a dinghy witout a paddle and no sense of direction.
"The mood and temper of the public in regard to the treatment of crime and criminals is one of the most unfailing tests of the civilization of any country. Take note David Davis. Bow down and proclaim how unworthy you really are.
Memo: To Polly Toynbee, try matching the above and I will follow your leadership qualities.

Anyone else see the irony of Noel Edmonds complaining that someone has done "nothing for the country"?

However, the thought of a President-for-life Toni and First Lady Imelda Blair gives me the dry heaves.
The democratic option can have terrible consequences.
Prince Charles has raised more money, read more business plans, sat in on more interviews and done, through his Prince's Trust, more to help ambitious young people than any politician in Britain. More young people have gone into business for themselves and become wealth creators thanks to the Prince's Trust than through any of the phony social welfare programmes Tony Blair, Gordon Brown and the other slithy toves in NuLab have jotted down on the back of an envelope.

Noel E's a bit unfair. Prescott does occasionally do something for the country - he leaves it! Sad thing is he comes back.

That said, If we were to move to an elected head of state then we'd need an election first.
I'd wager that Blair wouldn't stand an ice cube in hell's chance of getting the job!

billy - Prince Charles pays taxes. He has helped thousands of young people realise a business idea, and many of them have managed to make a good fist of the enterprise he helped them start.

I suspect, despite being older, Prescott could go a few rounds with Edmonds. Sharing Hamer's opinion of Edmonds I would enjoy seeing it.
