The Association of Conservative Peers has a new chairman. Peter Brooke decided to give up the post and has been replaced by my old friend Gillian Shephard. It's a tricky time for the Peers as a further bout of reform looms on the horizon. Knowing her qualities as I do they couldn't have got a more doughty representative. She's got just the right mix of charm and grit.
Is this lady the winner of your face transplant competition?
ReplyDelete"couldn't have got a more 18doughtystreet representative..."
ReplyDeleteI think I might have inadvertently frighted Lady Shephard with my bald head at the Conservative History Group meeting in July.
ReplyDeleteI'm delighted to hear it too, she will do a great, always has done, always will.
ReplyDeleteway-hey. normal service resumes. you got the word 'doughty' back into one of your posts. keep up the good work, iain.
ReplyDeleteA great choice.but
ReplyDeleteHave we not got more important things to sort out without wasting time on The House of Lords.
The only change is to make it all electable or leave it alone.
About time somebody put the kybosh on these increasingly misguided attempts to 'reform' [verb: meaning : to fuck up] the House of Lords.
ReplyDeleteThey are the only checks and balances against this disgraceful Nulabour autocracy.
