There May Be Trouble Ahead...

Oh dear. Guardian hack Ros Taylor has started away against the Guidomeister. Read THIS and be afraid. Very afraid.

She concludes... Guido Fawkes is a blog of its disillusioned, exhausted time; it's a blog for the tail-end of the Blair era and the alarming lack of engaging alternatives. It may be anarchic, but it's not revolutionary. Sorry, Guido. Do your worst.

Does she not remember that Guido once tried to blow up the Palace of Westminster? Guardian Towers in Farringdon Road would be a doddle.

UPDATE Fri: Mick Fealty aka Slugger O'Tolle comes to Guido's defence HERE. Guido is so far remaining an untypical staesmanlike silence. Maybe he's keeping his gunpowder dry.

  2. I love the fact that intespersed within the comments there is argument about the Iraq War and Palestine.

  3. Oh god, I wish the Guardianistas would STFU about blogging. It's quite clear they are utterly clueless and regard commenters as nothing more than uppity serfs who should know their places better. In fact, that's pretty much how they regard everyone except the CiF writers.

CiF is the single best proof that not all MSM journalists get it. At. All. "Why can't it be more like a newspaper?" Because it's not a newspaper, duh.

  4. "This is inevitably enjoyable. Who doesn't relish it when a Profumo or an Aitken is caught out?"

She doesn't get it does she? Note Ros Taylor only wants to hear about Tory wrongdoings. The whole point is that its time for the sanctimonious, self righteous, Its-Ok-Cos-we're-socialists-and-therefore-beyond-criticism MSM schtick to be shown up for the cant it is. Viva Guido, F*** the Grauniad! Its people like Ros Taylor who make us cynical.

  5. Oh dear, somebody who thinks they are part of the on message elite speaking down to the peasants again

  6. Whilst Ross, implicitly admits it's the end of New Labour I don't think their comments have any mileage. Guido will switch sides and Governments will continue gossiping and leaking, as they did in the days of the Romans.

Anybody who doesn't thinks that "Now" is the new "Forever" clearly has delusions of grandeur and self-importance.

Right-wing voters will always be the witty, intelligent ones able to blog - the only funny Labour voters are professional comedians, manic depressives and circus clowns - the rest either have their heads to far up their arses or in a plate of pie and chips to use the internet properly.

The only thing to be "afraid" of the ambigiously sexed citizen Ros is them turning up at one of your parties, as a witty (Tory) friend once quipped about sex "If you can't tell you don't want to know."

  7. Interesting that Ms Taylor gets a vague threat from your "Top Blogger". I received one back in Aug 2005. I wonder if this is the way that Paul Staines deals with all criticism?

  8. Bloody hell... the paranoids are after you. Calm down boys and girls, you're getting too excited. I love raincoasters quote... "Why can't it be more like a newspaper?"

    But who is raincoaster quoting?

  9. Greenham was PACKED FULL of totty, plenty of it Tory. You're just peeved that you couldn't check out the what went on in the benders....

  10. Oh I think the G takes blogging pretty seriously - CiF is proof of that in itself. The rest of the MSM has been very slow on the uptake. Our good host is a contributor to CiF himself.

Taking Guido seriously is a bit more difficult. Sexist, big-headed (even bigger than Iain's, which is something of a feat as Iain's head has been officially designated as a 'Pluton') and about as funny as a burning orphanage.

He has a bee in his bonnet about these loans for honours - with his guns trained 180 degrees from the truly sleazy target - the tories' dodgy foreign money.

With an aim as poor as that it is hard to see him really setting Westminster alight - still, I may be wrong...wouldn't be the first time and won't be the last.

  11. I found it mildly amusing that she draws attention to a punctuation error by Guido "Lets [sic]" and then, just a few lines later, refers to "Iain's Dale".

    ReplyDelete
  12. it's more that she hopes Guido/Iain etc become an irrelevance because otherwise she's gonna have real trouble justifying her probably not inconsiderable pay cheque in an era where people abandon the dead tree gang

    ReplyDelete
  13. You're assuming Guido won't be exposing Tory Ministers in a few years...?

  14. Fortunately for me her face didn't show up on the link,
I presume she is typical diesel dyke, otherwise known as a Blair Babe (how that phrase still makes me laugh).
I despise David Cameron and everything the fat faced prick stands for, however, if he were to give an election pledge to stop Government advertising in the Guardian (driving them into bankruptcy) I may just be tempted to come back into the fold, as it is he is a complete twat who would probably like tony blair to ride him like a horse.

  15. Aren't the Groan moving offices into that big hole by King's Cross anyway... Might as well wait before getting the gunpowder out.

I must protest at this primitive sexism .Please replace it with sophisticated sexism immiediately. Have them washed and brought to my tent .

  17. Has Ros joine the Islamicists? What a strange way to request martyrdom! Does she really wish to be chained to the walls in Guido's underground HQ?

    ReplyDelete
  18. Hmm. Ros Taylor's piece seems to me to be merely a refinement of the discredited Greenslade-Campbell thesis that it is really journalists (and by extension bloggers) rather than politicians who are to blame for the growing public cynicism about politics.

    ReplyDelete
  19. I agree with Ros, all you political bloggers appear to badly on the wane. Once I turned to you for guidance in the choppy sea of political discourse, now I feel stranded without a rude rowing implement. I have had to step into the breach myself and have today given a detailed review of the Liberal leaders sizzling address.

once again "they" just dont get it do they!

  21. "Guido Fawkes is a blog of its disillusioned, exhausted time..."

    Reminds me of a newspaper...

Only kidding of course, twittering pseudo liberals are, like hope - eternal.

  22. Guardian writers and journalists are worried. They know that what they pen only approximates to the truth (often not all that closely), but they have to hold down relationships with government, ands dare not stray too far from the government line.

Before bloggers exposed the falsity, they could get away with it. Now they cannot. Nice to hear the moaning noises. The public have suffered from the lobby briefing system long enough.

  23. Clearly you were never much of a historian Iain, because, as I remember it, the real Guido Fawkes failed miserably with his fellow plotters - and then was publicly hung drawn and quartered. Let's hope the same thing happens to this pretender.

Had a read of the article. Must say I agree with it in part. I don't read Guido's blog, and when I did, I found it rather pathetic, always going on about 'totty' and being rather juvenile in general. He is certainly a rather pathetic individual.

Further, I find many of his libertarian ramblings disturbing. Paul Staines likes to complain about lying politicians and their illegal loans etc. Fair enough, that is probably true - but he hasn't exactly been the greatest upholder of the law either - the 'wisp of smoke' comment in one of his articles comes to mind. Of course, this described his illegal abuse of banned substances which was a criminal offence. Perhaps someone from a law enforcement agency might like to investigate this interesting revelation?

Don't worry though, if not, his time will come soon enough. People know who he is really, and if he makes too many enemies, something rather nasty is bound to happen to him.

  24. I now only read the dead tree press for a laugh and the telly for real stories i come to the blogs.

  25. Typical lefty - just cause their blog is pathetic and useless they have to slag of something succesful in the hope of a backlash and lots of internet traffic!

No doubt they are hoping for a mention on Guidos Blog!!!

    PATHETIC WHINING LEFTIE!

  26. Ros is just trying to get a rise out of Guido. Calm down. Phony war.

    ReplyDelete
  27. The Guardian offices really must be a bundle of laughs to work in - all those lefties who were obviously off sick the day they were handing out a sense of humour.

Guido's blog is funny - that's what she really hates.

    ReplyDelete
  28. I've read the article twice, and still can't see what the silly bitch is whining about.

Throw all the words up in the air after a few glasses of pinot, and expect the readers to agree and nod themselves into oblivion.

  29. "but he hasn't exactly been the greatest upholder of the law either"

In his defence he believed that all drugs should be legalised on the basis of libertarian philosophy. I doubt you'd find politicians philosophically trying to justify accepting dodgy loans. Plus he wasn't a politician.

What a complete load of rubbish. What about the person who, for example believes that murder should be legalised? Should that person just be able to go around murdering others because they don't agree with the law?

  31. Quote: the only funny Labour voters are professional comedians, manic depressives and circus clowns.

Javelin is a big poopyhead and I will beat him with my Guatemalan poncho. Now I have to double my dosage!

And I wasn't quoting anyone; I was synthesizing Ros Taylor and Polly Toynbee, whose blithe cluelessness and knuckle-whapping nun-like manner have rendered me manic on more than one occasion.

I note with interest the similarity between some of the comments here, in CiF, and on Guido's blog. Would love to trace those IPs; three of a kind wins!

I'm not saying he should be able to get away with it, just that he can't really be accused of being hypocritical.
