On Tuesday I took part in an
Editorial Intelligence Debate chaired by Adam Boulton on political commentary after Blair. They've now released it as a Podcast. The other participants were Chirs Huhne, Peter Kellner, Steve Richards and Helena Kennedy. To hear the 5 minutes presentations from each of us click
HERE. To hear the audience questions and our answers click

Very interesting discussion. I suggest that blogs and instant opinion are something that newspapers and politicians are going to have to adapt. Trends are very difficult to halt once they gather pace.
ReplyDeleteEnjoyable podcast Iain.
ReplyDeleteDaily Mirror is reporting that Gordimmo is planning on electoral reform if he gets in.
So now we know NuLabor is taking a leaf out of their master's book of tricks across the pond. Planning on fixing the next general election.
I wonder if we will sudden get Diebold voting machnes over here?
Today was the first time I heard the phrase `PREPARING FOR THE POST CAMERON PERIOD`..real Conservatives will welcome the comforting thought that nothing lasts forever
ReplyDeleteThe questions I have about politicians` words and deeds is "Do they stand the test of public scrutiny?". There is a widespread view today that they do not. For me the history of the Blair government, as well as recent events, reinforce this view.
ReplyDeleteIain, I've just finished listening to both parts of the podcast.

His article here on the new seat belt laws demolished what failed to pass even basic standards for journalism.

I think you should highlight this when next asked to air your thought on MSM & the blogosphere, and why people don't trust politicians or the media to tell them the truth.
