Cherie Knifes Gordon
That'll teach me to pop out for a sandwich. Guido is reporting that Bloomberg is reporting that Cherie walked out of Gordon Brown's speech. Apparently she called him a liar. Always nice to get the conference off to a good start, isn't it?
But was it a heat of the moment comment or was in planned ? Set another story to detract from Gordon's speech, just when he's lost the ability to respond and has pledged loyalty to Blair (again). Or is that just a coincidence ?
Cherie is basically poison; God knows what Blair, who despite his many faults at least tries to be a decent chap sees in her. One predicts a split in a certain marriage at some point after the Blair stepdown.
anonymous: Apparently, despite his many MANY MANY faults, he does genuinely seem to love her, and is very affectionate towards her in 'private'. But I am told he feels the same way about Peter Mandelson too, so clearly the man has VERY bad taste in men and women!
