The Absent Ed Miliband - What Can He Have Been Up To

I wonder why arch-Brownite Cabinet Office Minister Ed Miliband cancelled all his meetings this afternoon. Was there a meeting of the Brownite clans? I wonder if it was at 19 Catherine Place*?

* venue of the meeting convened by Tristan Garel Jones on the night of 22 November 1990 to discuss how best to get rid of Margaret Thatcher. Or something like that.

  1. Is Ed Miliband in the Cabinet?

  2. No. He is a junior minister (parliamentary under secretary) at the Cabinet Officer, with responsibility for The Third Sector.

In his current role, he is under Hilary Armstrong. Horrible image.

  4. Nick Robinson is reporting that Ian Wright (Hartlepool) has also resigned his government position.

  5. Not only are people not in the cabinet being elevated to it, people not in the government are being put in it. Seven of the eight people to resign yesterday were PPSs, unpaid unofficial jobs that are (whatever you may read) not part of the government at all.

  6. Iain doesn't say that Ed Miliband is a Cabinet Minister, he says that he is a Cabinet Office Minister - a Minister in the Cabinet Office

  7. I thought Ed Miliband was a composite representative figure, like David Balls.
