EXCLUSIVE: First Tory All Woman Shortlist

I can exclusively reveal that Chesham & Amersham Conservatives have selected their Parliamentary Candidate for the next election from an all woman shortlist. The candidate in question is Cheryl Gillan. It was a shortlist of one! Gotcha.

  1. Don't you mean Cheryl Gillan, rather than Cherly Gillan?

    Gotcha back.

  2. Careful, CCHQ will see this as a model for getting more women selected. "We will not do all women shortlists but we will have only one candidate to choose from."

In fact, why don't they just do that. Save a lot of hassle - let CCHQ allocate the candidates. After all, that is virtually what the A list is doing anyway.

  4. Iain, they have only just calmed down from the last "A" list rant on ConHom. Don't set them off again, we do need a little peace before the Hefferrant returns from his holidays.

  5. Mr Dale,

How do you know Cheryl Gillan is a woman?

  6. Iain, you need to have a word. Quotas are so naff - a typical champagne socialist poilcy. People are getting fed up with quotas and "positive" discrimination. DC's plans for forcing 50% female shortlists is going to seriously damage the Tories in the run-up to the election.

  7. Hate to ruin your headline Iain, but I believe Cheltenham had the first Conservative all women shortlist when they selected their candidate for 2005.
