Dizzy Fancies a Birdie: Anyone for Golf?

Dizzy has suggested a bloggers golf tournament. See HERE. Happy to offer to host it at my club at King's Hill near West Malling in Kent sometime in October. If anyone is interested, let me or Dizzy know. God, you can tell it's a quiet week when we're reduced to organising a golf game, can't you? All my regular golf partners are busy this weekend, so if anyone out there fancies a game over the weekend, feel free to get in touch. After watching West Ham play Liverpool tomorrow I suspect I might be in need of taking some aggression out on something...

  1. Iain, you should try golfing in Slovenia! only 4 18 holers, but the most amazing scenery! Putting onto the 18th which is located on the noat of a medieval castle, or par 5 down with a fairway which overlooks Lake Bled!

I organise both golfing comps, tournments and golfing challenges (4 courses in 4 days). And its cheap too!

    Let me know if interested.

  3. Thought you would be filling in your applications for the 20 seats this weekend with no time for football or golf Iain.

  4. Iain

can't play golf for toffee (get accused of playing like a hockey player... which I am, so no surprise there), but if you and your 4some need a caddy, I need some pre-season training and a chance to get out of the house after a hectic move, and a slog round a course with a golf bag sounds like a good gentle start

think you know my email addy/phone number - would email them but your blackberry is probably full to overloading (clearly not someone addicted to them...)

  5. Iain - you are selling the Hammers short - if Sheff Utd were unlucky to only get a draw against the Pule last week, your lot should be able to go one better!

  7. Suggestion to move this forward. Agree a date and venue with Dizzie. It may have to be a Friday rather than Sat as many clubs will not allow Society/visitors on weekend. Announce date/venue and take from there. Suspect numbers will be limited but then again if we can manage 2x4balls it should be an interesting and enjoyable day. Possibly Adrian will sponsor prizes after which he can sign us all up for a visit to Slovenia.

  8. Grisworld - Hmmm - I might dip my hands into my (rapidly emptying) pocket for a round or two of drinks!

Andrew Kennedy - Nice try, but that's taking Mutual Help a little beyond the call of duty!

Would Tryells Wood GC (equidistance from Leatherhead and Ashead - just of J9 of the M25) not be better?

Anyone want details of my golf trips to Slovenia - mail me - adrian@destinationSlovenia.com. Iain has some quotes now as well!

Also, what about a clay pigeon shooting day?

Is there an internet bloggers social/sporting club? Iain, you should start one.

  9. Adrian your suggestion of Tyrells Wood a good one. 7 minutes from M25. But we would have to play in the week. You buy a round of drinks and I will provide a few lake Pinnacles, used gloves and an old Bob Toski video(Pal format) for the prize pool.
Milky Bar Kid's services as a caddy can be auctioned to defray bar expenses.

  10. How good do you have to be? Pitch and Putt is my limit!

    Could be fun.

But won't be delivering any In Touch leflets I'm afraid! :-)

  11. Griwswold - I'll make a call. Get Iain and Dizzie to sort a date and we are away. My father-in-law will host it, he used to be the secretary of the club until last year when he retired to concentrate on....er.....playing golf!

Iain, did you get my email re: Slovenia! For thise interested, email me - adrian@destinationSlovenina.com.
