West Worcestershire Selects Woman
Harriett Baldwin has just been selected for West Worcestershire, beating Margot James and Andrew Griffiths. She fought Stockton South in 2005 and was in the final three with me in North Norfolk. She's a star in the making...

How appropriate a Baldwin is back in West Worcestershire ....
In my opinion she will need to be. Either a woman MP is ten times more stropy and smart than a man for example A Widdercomb M Thatcher or C Short or they are ten times worse at always doing as they are told. All those unknown Labour woman MPs cant still be in love with Tony, he is losing his hair now and his power.
To be prepared to give up her senior and doubtless highly remunerative position with J P Morgan, Ms Baldwin must be very, very ambitious politically - back bench fodder doesn't sound like her bag at all.
With so many A listers having recently selected and on short lists, isn't it time for a top-up - are you standing by Dale,Iain?
My view that if such a list was to be introduced and foisted on selection committees, it should number at least 200 to provide a sufficiently broad range of candidates to suit an equally disparate range of constituencies.

Would you have had a similar headline: "West Worcestershire Selects Man"?
I just hope you're right, Iain. I have my doubts.
Patrick H, a fair point, although in this case I think I might have, as there was only one man in the final three!

Stockton North, I think, Iain...
Thanks Ken, was just about to point that out myself...
