"I think there's every chance Wayne Rooney could go back to the Man United Training Ground and stick one on Cristiano Ronaldo."
Bloody right. And after he's decked the cheating little twat he should march into Alex Ferguson's office and tell him he refuses to play in the same team as him. Instant hero to the whole nation.
hope he does
ReplyDeleteObrigado Inglaterra e obrigado Wayne Rooney.
ReplyDeleteHow, exactly could that spolit, self-righteous, annoying little thug seek to take the moral high ground on anything after his stamp (amongst other things)?
ReplyDeleteRonaldo probably has a deal lined up to leave MU hence his behaviour. In any event he has no future now at MU. He has signed his suicide note, perhaps his hidden agenda.
ReplyDeleteHargreaves a real warrior.
Good riddance to The Turnip. Nice one FA, you bloody overpaid idiots.
Iain, if you want a thread for the News 24 gig, maybe compare your (thoughtful) "should we be bastards like the LimpDums?" threads and Alan Shearer's (genuinely bewildered) "are we maybe too honest for the World Cup?" (just prior to inciting Wayne to one last red-mist moment).
ReplyDeleteBut then Rooney has only himself to blame. He would have walked for that regardless of what Ronaldo had done. He was stupid enough to do in front of the ref. I have been embarrassed by this tournament, I am sure the rest of the world thinks we are a bit of a joke.
ReplyDeleteIt was probably also Cristiano Ronaldo's fault that England played extremely poorly in 5 matches. He als tricked Rooney into kicking the Portugese player between the legs in front of the referee.
ReplyDeleteMy team tried to beat the Portugese at their game last week and in the end we only embarassed ourselves, because they are so much beter at it.
Rumour has it that Ronaldo is trying to get out of his contract with Man U...if Rooney lamps him one then he'll have the perfect excuse. Having said that though, I'd like to see that fight....Ronaldo's a cheating little bastard
ReplyDeleteCristiano Ronaldo made Rooney stamp on the guys crotch did he? Sure its unsporting to appeal for a card, but Rooney was clearly in the wrong. In any case the English would have done the same!
ReplyDeleteI agree with aaron. Rooney has a temper on him which may have cost us that match. However badly any of the Portugese played, stamping on someone's private parts is inexcusable!
ReplyDeleteIt was interesting to watch the referee's body language after the supposed foul committed by Rooney. Although the referee gave a foul against Rooney (which he shouldn't have done, as Rooney was fouled first), it was not until Rooney pushed Ronaldo that he was going to card Rooney (in other words, it wasn't for the accidental stamp).
ReplyDeleteTwo things are interesting. Firstly, conspiracy theorists will draw a link between the Argentine President's intention to reclaim the Falklands and the red card.
Secondly, what do Manchester United do? A school of thought would be to make Ronaldo play out his contract, but only let him play in the third round of the FA Cup (against a team of semi-professionals). If Manchester United do keep him on their books, they should pay for the necessary protection Ronaldo will need when he comes back into the country - the tax payer has suffered enough.
PS - why didn't Sven bring on David James as a penalty stopper (rather than Jamie Carragher) - that would have given the Portuguese something to think about.
Doncha know that the 'Manure' mob HATE Ing-ger-land? They just lurved it when Fergie tried to stop Rooney going to the World Cup.
ReplyDeleteI'm not convinced it was a stamp - especially if you watch it at normal speed. Nonetheless, quite how Ronaldo can play in England now I don't know...
ReplyDeleteFerguson knows that Rooney is far more important to Man U than Ronaldo.
ReplyDeleteAs a Man Utd fan, I hope he goes. I probably wouldn't want such an irk in the team if was consistently good. But he isn't consistently good. There are patches of brilliance, undermined by 'look at me' showboating the rest of the time. If he goes to Real Madrid, and we get another winger (like Damian Duff), it's no loss. Plus, of course, he made it clear he wanted to leave even before his conspiracy to get Rooney sent off. Keeping a player against his will is very rarely worth it anyway (and certainly not worth it after yesterday evening, and the massive security problem his staying would entail - everyone knows he'll get death threats; I don't, for one moment, condone such threats, but they're inevitable).
As regards a previous comment, we don't all hate England at Old Trafford. I, for one, would be delighted to have seen (or, in the future, see) England managed by someone decent, like Arsene Wenger, Guus Hiddink or Phil Scolari rather than the ludicrous Swede, or Steve 'Mike Bassett' McClaren.
Hopefully someone will brak Ronaldos leg if and when he returns to England.Rooney derserved to be sent off but Ronaldo is an absolute disgrace!
ReplyDeleteWe(Man U) could certainly live without Ronaldo - intermittent flashes of brilliance just ain't enought. And the Stretford Enders never really warmed towards him. He'd be a fool to return and I daresay he has no intention of doing so.
ReplyDeleteEven if it was a stamp - I dont think so - it was hardly career-threatening. Ridiculous.
ReplyDeleteNo, but possibly future life-threatening.
