Running any fleet of vehicles can be a very exacting experirence, but when your customers include Tony Blair and Gordon Brown then you have to be on your toes!
But these are nothing to the horrors of running a Government Car Service for the Deputy prime Minister. How, for example, do you account for all those special detours to Doncaster?
You might think that one Parliamentary Officer was quite enough for an insignificant Government quango, but oh no, the Parliamentary Officer reports to the Director of Government Mail - whoever that is.
A cushier job, I cannot imagine.

Having re-read the advertisement - is it really appropriate to personalise two government mimisters for whom this lowly civil servant would be working - especially when one of those named may only remain in office for a very short while?
ReplyDeleteThe "Director of Government Mail" would do well to remember that he and his staff are there to serve whoever is in Government, rather than patronising the incumbents.
I think that Blair yesterday and this advertisement tells us all that we are in for quite a shock.
ReplyDeleteBlair intends to rule for as long as his ticker ticks. The message is quite simple the Blair/Brown Co-Government will continue far longer than anyone thought, wishes or expects. They have the majority! They can change the law. No elections
