Rosie Winterton Reaps Her Reward

I was delighted to see this week the John Prescott's best friend Rosie Winteron has been made a Privy Councillor. What can she have done to merit such a reward after only 9 short years as an MP? For services to the Prime Minister? For her sterling work as a Health Minister? For services to the Deputy Prime Minister? Why does the expression 'hush money' keep coming into my head? Well done Rosie. Entirely deserved. Yes, indeedy.

Erhm...presumably slightly more than the Right Honourable David William Donald Cameron MP in the five short years he has been an MP.

Are you feeling alright Iain? You seem to be a bit peaky today. I prescribe a strong Glenfarclas 105 12 year old - at least. Yours through a glass darkly.

  4. Paul Walter

Though Paul being Leader of Her Majesty's Opposition might have something to do with that promotion don't you think? Surely not a serious remark, or at least not deserving to be taken seriously. We all know the reason for her being made a Privy Councillor, and the publication of this will be the final nail in the coffin of the Cabinet Minister in question.

  6. Rosie got stuck in a lift. I wonder if she was stuck with anybody interesting.

    This from Hansard:

Mr. Blunkett: I thank the hon. Gentleman for his generous comments about my right hon. Friend; I, too, offer her (Rosie) congratulations on her becoming a Privy Councillor only a week ago. I am extremely glad that she is in the Chamber today, because she was stuck in a lift in Sanctuary Buildings, which could have excluded her from today's Question Time.
