Daily Politics Gags David Davis
So the BBC Daily Politics Show carry Charles Clarke's statement more or less in full but don't carry David Davis's response. How's that for political impartiality for you? I have now switched to Sky News.
David Davis isn't the story, Charles Clarke is. The kneejerk must-run-a-response-even-if-it-says-nothing practice turns most normal people off, and the BBC know it.
I have always supported the right for the Beeb to exist, but since really getting involved in politcs over the past 15 monthes my opinion of them has been decreasing on an almost daily basis - Whether it has been interviews with paedophile Rock Stars or its absolutley awful programming schedule or even it's tendency to take their so typical holier that thou stance to almost all things in the News arena.
They seem positively gleeful whenever they are expelled from countries and then "report" on irresponsible journalism by the gutter red tops (im not saying I like the red tops but the hypocracy is disgusting) I would switch to Sky news but living in an Anti-Murdoch household we have a blanket ban on Sky, The times and yes even the Sun!!!
If the Beeb wish to survive then they should bloody well stop wasting my and your money on BBC7 equal opportunities for people with Ginger hair channel and actually report the news and provide half decent TV for the money WE pay.
My complaint about the Daily Politics (and in many ways also This Week) is Andrew Neil's constant attempts to be funny, which are predictable and such a waste of time. We know he can ask serious questions, so why doesn't he do the whole program like that rather than going on about how great the mugs are? And can't they give Jenny Scott something better to do than read out emails and do tedious 'show and tell' type stuff with silly graphics?
Personally I find with ministerial statements these days, the responses from opposition parties that follow are far more enlightening than the real thing, so its advisable to have BBC Parliament to hand when the terrestrial channels get bored of them.
The problem is that when, on some rare occasions, the BBC does actually run a Conservative led anti Labour story, they ALWAYS broadcast the Labour response but almost never these days do they accord the same right of reply to the Conservatives. Between that and their increasing tendency to try to portray the LibDems as the opposition and to normally give them the last word the BBC clearly demonstrates itself to be institutionally biased against both conservative views and The Conservative party..
could we please have a referendum on the abolition of the bbc?
ReplyDeleteThey are a law unto themselves.
Sky News...
ReplyDeletethat bastion of impartiality!
Try ITN News - ever-so-slightly tabloid but far fairer.
ReplyDeleteMaybe David Davis's response wasn't very good?

Sky News -- isn't it packed with people who used to work for BBC News?
ReplyDeleteIn fact, the British media in general seems to be stuffed with people who either:
1. Used to work at the BBC;
or,
2. Want to work at the BBC.
Oh yeah, it's good to be King It's good to be a news cartel. It's good to be the monoplolist.
What we need in the UK is a Rush Limbaugh and real conservative Talk Radio.
