How Much Did Tony Blair Donate to Cliff's Charity?

From Popbitch...

It must be almost all over for Tony Blair. Forget the NHS crisis, prisons debacle and his colleagues' affairs, now even aging pop stars are putting the boot in. Friends of Sir Cliff Richard are claiming that Sir Cliff was far from happy with Tony and Cherie borrowing his house in Barbados. The first time he lent them his home, the singer was apparently disappointed that they didn't offer to anything. When the Blairs asked again, Sir Cliff grudgingly said yes, but insisted on an arrangement where the PM would make an appropriate donation to Cliff's favourite charity. Some months later, the charity's accountants were asked about the payment. They confirmed a donation had been made as requested. But how much did the Blairs decide to pay? Cliff's friends are putting it about that the amount the PM thought was appropriate to rent a luxury villa in Barbados for over two weeks... was about the cost of a meal for two in a London restaurant.

So, they paid about £200 quid for a three week holiday. Obviously Cherie was writing the cheque.

  1. Tight-fisted get! Harry Webb, that is. Made zillions out a gnat's tit worth of talent, given a gong by sexy John Major, (down, Edwina, down) and still wants a bung to the Cliff Richard foundation when the country's bloody prime minister does him the honour of stopping at his dusty little hovel.

  6. Pulsar... yes, I have been there, but unfortunately without the telescopic rifle. Getting rid of the useless git, (Webb that is, but I suppose Blair too) would have made me a national hero. Why John Lennon, for god's sake, when 26 years later that freak is still whining out congratulations every time it pisses down at wimbledon.

  7. Bob, as a Cliff afficionado I can confirm he has NEVER sung Congratulations at Wimbledon. Summer holiday and Living Doll yes, but Congratulations, no!

  8. Blessed if I can tell the difference, to be honest Iain. It's all the same bland tripe to me.

  10. I am with Iain on this. I like Sir Cliff's music. But then I consider myself a man of taste.

  11. I read where Cliff was proud to have the Blairs to stay at his home. And he did not make them pay to stay at his house. Cliff said he offered his home to them because he thought Tony Blair looked gaunt looking and needed to get away for a rest for awhile. As for Cliff's singing he must can sing he has made a living at it long enough. Cliff can sing better than Sting.
