Cameron Wipes the Floor With Blair

David Cameron has just wiped the floor with Blair at PMQs on the subject of the Education Bill. I have rarely seen Blair look so panicked. Blair took DC to task on why the Conservatives will be voting against the Programme Motion and why the Tories only had a 2 line whip. Cameron hit back saying "You worry about whipping your Party and I'll worry about mine". He then had a dig at Blair about undermining parliamentary scutiny which hit home well. As he says, the PM should worry about convincing his own side. Clear win for Cameron.

  1. Blair was very rattled. Cameron is good at PMQs, he has a natural manner - slightly amused, calm and confident.

  2. Mr B didn't look remotely "rattled" to me - it all depends on one's point of view I think. Today's ICM poll will have brought him more comfort than it did your man. Mr C was unable to explain why he wants to delay this bill's passage after months of urging Mr B to make haste...

  3. If this wasn't an example of Blair being "rattled" then he really needs to be popping some pills to calm down... he wouldn't want to end up back in hospital (especially after yesterday's piece on here re. NHS).

  4. Let's just agree that Mr Blair got the worst of it.

Turning to the other point, ICM opinion polls have always favoured Labour by a suspiciously wide margin.

And on the subject of delaying the Education Bill's progress, didn't wildly pro European Union Labour do the same when "supporting" a Tory Bill enacting the provisions of a certain European Union Treaty during John Major's term in office?

Labour would not have to truncate debate if it sought to pass a few less Bills. The Bills would probably be better drafted too.

  5. Bliar always gets taken apart at the dispatch box, the clown is like a broken record, every week its the same old type of handpicked Labour regime backbenchers grovellingly asking the same old Bliar/Alastair Campbell handpicked questions ie "Will the Prime Minister join with me...etc etc", and its the same old buzzwords, gimmicks and catchy headline slogans from Bliar every single week...."Investment Investment Investment, crime is down, waiting lists down, everything rosy blah blar blair", when in reality the country (thats England by the way) is in a worse and worse state each and every week.

It may be called "Prime Ministers Question time" but it sure as hell isn't Prime Ministers ANSWER time!, ive never heard him answer one single question yet.

Regarding the new "Guardian Poll", "funny" how the worse a week Bliar and the Labour regime have the better they "appear" in the polls isn't it!, draw your own conclusions on that one.

  6. Cameron didn't win according to Nick Assinder that unbiased commentator from the BBC.According to Nick Cameron was 'heading for a score draw'until Blair launched an exocet which presumably won it for Blair.
Nick Assinder reminds of those Italian boxing judges who required a British boxer to knock an Italian out to persuade them to score it as a draw!

  7. Got to hand it to Cameron - his recovery from Blair's ambush was almost perfect. They did both lose their cool a bit at the end, with Blair practically red in the face and Cameron straying a little too far into Punch-and-Judy terroritory with his remark about Blair being unable to spell 'parliamentary scrutiny'. I'm not convinced he meant to go that far.

Nevertheless, excellent theatre for those who like that sort of thing (and, I confess, I do).

  8. The Evening Standard scored PMQs as a 3-2 win for Cameron, with Ming Campbell dismissed as "injured".
