Three Coffins Arrived Home From Iraq Today

Three soldiers' bodies returned home today from Iraq. There was no government minister in attendance. What an indictment of this sorry lot of charlatans that purport to govern our country. There are four Ministers at the Ministry of Defence - Dr John Reid, Adam Ingram MP, Don Touhig and Lord Drayson. No doubt they were at the New Labour Spring Jolly in Blackpool with the Dear Leader. They should hang their heads in shame. Hat-tip to Tommy English

  1. The sorry thing is not that some Ministerial flunky wasn't there to see them come home, it is that some Labour MPs - supported up to the hilt by the Tories - sent them their to die in the first place. 138 Labour MPs voted to stop the invasion.... only 15 Tories. How did Cameron vote on the decision to send these lads to an illegal war? If it was my son in that coffin the last person I would have wanted to see welcome the coffin would be one of the crew that sent them there to die... and I wouldn't give a toss if their rosette was red or blue. If you are going to fire cheap shots, make sure your own side have got their heads ducked first.

  2. Oh for God's sake. I've heard some weak lines of defence in my time, but that's right up there with the best of them.

  3. This is probably going to be shouted down by some left leaning ponce (forgive the language) but I think the return of every soldier should feature (and I don't just mean 1/2 an inch in the Times' News in Brief) in the news... But hey, what do I know... It ought to have top billing on the TV and radio news. The individuals in our armed forces fight for our country - for better or worse - and they deserve our respect, our attention and our prayers. But now, for the most part, they get heckled, ignored and shafted.

I agree with Iain - it's nothing short of disgraceful that not one Government minister was in attendance. Bob seems to miss the point - it's not about cheap shots, it's about where this country is being taken by Lefties, the politically correct brigade, et al.

I'm with Peter Hitchens: Great Britain has been abolished...

  4. I opposed the war but remember that many servicemen and their families feel differently. A senior government minister should offer to go to each funeral. Many people would refuse naturally, but it is simple courtesy and may just give senior people a feeling for the loss beyond mere statistics.

  5. It isn't a 'defence', or even an attempt at one.

  6. The failure of a Minister to turn up at an airport is "about where this country is being taken by Lefties, the politically correct brigade, et al.". That sounds like the view of a right leaning twat trying to shout people down... but, hey, what do I know?

  7. Not much Bob Piper. If you did you would know that a bigger proportion of Conservative supporters are against this Godforsaken war than that of any other party.
Human decency should compel a minister to be in attendance at the return of a fallen soldier,as we know from the behaviour of Hoon in the Kelly affair decency and Labour defence ministers are strangers to each other.

When you find yourself in a hole, stop digging.

  9. I feel that I have to answer the
ludicrous comments made by Bob Piper. It is true that the majority
of Conservative MP's voted in favour of the war but this was based upon

  10. You always know when Blair is about to eulogise about the latest fatality in Iraq.... the pauses in between his words get obscenely long.
