Conservative Women Launch New Website
It's good to see the Conservative Womens' Organisation firing on all cylinders. The stereotype is changing and their new website demonstrates that they are going to be a key part of the Change agenda within the Party. I know for a fact that Fiona Hodgson (left), their chairman, is intent on getting a lot of new blood involved and ensuring that they change the image of the organisation. Their website is worth a look as for the first time (it seems to me) there is a real political message there. Their success should not be judged on how many women candidates there are, but how they encourage more women into public life in general, whether as elected councillors or as public appointees. I hope they are going to go after younger women in particular, by which I mean women in their thirties and forties. In some ways the message David Cameron sends out is far more important than that sent out by the CWO. And so far it does seem to be the thirties/forties age group - of both women and men - who are responding to his agenda.
Tories going after younger women? That makes a change!
ReplyDeleteOh for f***s sake! Look at the link - not 'Fiona Hodgson' like any normal organisation. Oh, no we must have the title in there, darling. And not even 'Lady Hodgson' which would at least be comprehensible. Oh no, we have to go the whole hog and use absolutely correct, Debretts approved moniker - 'The Lady Hodgson'. New Tories? You're having a laugh, your Grace.
ReplyDeleteHmm, let's see, eh...
ReplyDeleteThough despite all natural instincts and upbringing, I have been reasonably impressed by my new local MP, Theresa Villiers, more in her first few months in the constituency than Sir Sidney Chapman for what seemed like decades and decades on end...
Appears very active, go-getting and switched-on, that early promotion once David Cameron took over wasn't really too much of a surprise, after all... Interested to see how she, and projects such as this, fare in the longer-term...
What is all this about new blood - are they all vampires?
ReplyDeleteLady F - are you one?
