I just took one of those Online test that tell you what you believe in. I have always thought of myself as a Social Liberal, but maybe it was the Americanised questions...! It shows I am in the same part of the chart as Ronald Reagan and, er, George W Bush...

    Isn't this quite a good illustration of why your speculation about defections from the Lib Dems is well off the mark? David Laws (and others) would be in the same ballpark as you on economic matters, but miles over the other side of the black line on social permissiveness - and from what I know of you, you tend slightly towards the socially permissive side of your party (not always, e.g. killing burglars, but generally).
