As some of you will have gathered by now, I have a new job. On Tuesday I start work as Chief of Staff to David Davis. I have therefore regretfully decided that I have to close down this Blog. I am sure you will all understand the reasons. It's my decision and my decision alone. Thanks to all who have contributed and become regular visitors over the last three years. I've really enjoyed doing the Blog and I am sure I will resurrect it again one day, but for now, it's over and out. If anyone wants to contact me in the future my email address is iain@iaindale.com.
PS. Someone has just posted a comment to ask what is happening to Politico's. Just to make clear, Politicos.co.uk continues as normal. My partner, John Simmons, will be taking over the day to day running of the business.
What's happening with Politico's, Iain?
ReplyDeleteIt has been a pleasure to read your blog. It will be sadly missed
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on your new job. I wish you and David Davis every success.
The sooner we can get this leadership business over the better.I hope it wont drag on until Christmas...it gives the chance to Tony Blair to inflict more damage on the country for 7 more months. We should be concentrating on attacking this awful corrupt government.
There are few things in life more important than blogging. Winning it for DD is one of them. Go kick some ass!
ReplyDeleteI second Peter Briffa.
ReplyDelete(You might make a good start by persuading DD's MP supporters not to appear on TV in 3 piece chalk pinstripes- even if they don't go the full Francis Maude pink shirted mile)
Iain, many congratulations on your new job I hope you find it fulfilling and rewarding.
ReplyDeleteI'm very sorry that you're closing this weblog which I've found interesting after having discovered it recently.
Now I suppose I understand why you didn't respond to my questions about David Davis!I hope you will do so soon in an official capacity!
On a more serious note I hope you will use what influence you have within the Conservative party to ensure that our MPs behave with discretion and dignity in the run up to the leadership election. The antics of Damien Green,Edward Leigh and others this week benefits noone more than the Labour Party.
"And next week I'll be tieing things up before starting my new job. I could tell you what it is, but if I did, I might have to shoot you..."
ReplyDeleteFor the avoidance of doubt, has this threat now been lifted or should we be very afraid?
Congratulations on the new job.
"The antics of Damien Green,Edward Leigh and others this week benefits noone more than the Labour Party"
ReplyDeleteIndeed, and the antics of Derek Conway do not endear me to David Davis either. It doesn't look good.
Congratulations on the new job.
ReplyDeleteWhen the cold war finishes and the real contest begins, let us at the DD for leader blog know what else we can do.
Quite agree with you anonymous.Derek Conways interview this morning benefits neither the Conservative Party in general nor I think David Davis.
ReplyDeleteI certainly hope that DD didn't put him up to it but rather it was a foolish solo effort from a loudmouth with a record of disloyalty to leaders of our party.
You said North Norfolk hadn't seen the last of you ....
ReplyDeleteWill you remain living in Swanton Abbott?
Anonymous, this from the EDP website:
ReplyDelete"He [Iain] also said he had made no firm decision about any future candidacy, but conceded the seven-days-a-week nature of the new London-based job meant it would be difficult to spend much time in Norfolk, though he hoped to keep his Swanton Abbot house "for the time being"."
Are you a Countrywide employee by the way, Anonymous? Excellent "go getter" style if you are. But looks like you will have to wait... for the time being!
Sorry to hear you're closing down for now, Iain.
ReplyDeleteI'm not a Tory (years ago I worked on the Norman Lamb campaign!), but it's been a pleasure to see a candidate blogging and having a sincere go.
Best of luck with the new job. I hope perhaps we'll see you online again some time. Thanks for the blog.
Hi, its Iain, Hope you'll read this, I know i only started recently for the party but i hope to serve for a long time and wish you all the best with David Davis. He should get leadership and i'm sure he'll appreciate you help, thanks for all your support as I started, Iain
ReplyDeleteCongrats Iain and I do rather hope you are more successful than we were the last time he ran. Good way to land on your feet mate. Well done.
