Crikey, what a mug! A face only a mother could love...

All kidding aside, this is really scary stuff. As it is I still can't believe that in this country 'life' doesn't necessarily mean 'life'in sentencing.

P.S. Iain, you'll probably bleep this out but really, I couldn't resist.

Why? Is it OK to be childish and gratuitously rude to Kennedy but not OK to be the same to Lady Finchley?

The same joker is posting in my name as well. Stealing identities now? Tsk, tsk. Sad and desperate.

Two questions:

Why is it that on the debate about the Terrorism Bill the Conservatives are quite rightly arguing that it is for a judge to decide on the circumstances of the case, rather than a politician, but in the case of murders it is okay for poltiicians to hamstring the judge?

And do you really believe that aeveryone convicted of murder should be given life, whatever the circumstances of the case, for example a woman who has murdered her husband after years of domestic violence?

Neil,

Can't figure out your first point but re the second point-in those circumstances the woman would not be given a life sentence and you know that. I am talking about cases where the sentence given is 'life' and they serve a life term equivalent of a bird's life.

Lady Finchley
What Neil is asking is patently obvious to anyone who has half a brain. Why don't you and Iain get your brains connected and then you might finish up with a whole one that is fully operational. Neil, you will have to set out your arguments in a much simpler form. Try starting by saying "Now are you sitting still and paying attention....?" On second thoughts Iain's concentration span is clearly limited. Incidently why is this London woman answering the comments? Has he had enough? Has he gone to ground? You never see Iain much these days - just notes to say he's been .......and gone.
