Shoreline 'Mis'management Plan

Just come back from a meeting in Happisburgh about the Shoreline Management Plan. About 120 people in the church. The whole community is united in its opposition. I said a few words. This is going to be a big election issue. I don't think any of the parties have got their heads round a national policy on sea defences so guess who's about to try to devise one? I'm a good one for thankless tasks!

  1. I have saved you the trouble and drafted a national policy on shoreline defences for you, Mr Dale:

    1. Conduct a cost/benefit analysis.
    2. Act (or fail to act) accordingly.
    3. There is no point 3.

The only dispute in Happisburgh I can see is whether the analysis was right.

  2. Ian - As you do not live anywhere near the coast how on earth can you comment on Sea Defences? Can I suggest that you move to Happisburgh and then you will be in a position to comment? Is that why you only said a few words at the meeting? [mind you, on your past record, I expect you to shortly declare that you are "leading the fight!"]

  3. Last time I looked on the map Swanton Abbott was about 10 miles from the coast. So you think as a Parliamentary Candidate I shouldn't have a view? Dear oh dear. Is that the best attack the LibDems can come up with.

What makes you think I'm a Lib Dem - Mr Agnew the UKIP man has a lot to offer as a sanctury for fed up Conservatives?

  5. An assumption from your previous posts. Tell you what, email me at iain@iaindale.com and I'll come and meet you. Then you can take a judgement on whether I'm as useless as you have already decided.

I don't really know you and my Mum [God rest her soul], with her dying words said "Son, don't talk to strangers"

  7. Robb, people can judge for themselves who the loser is of the two of us. If you have no interest in a rational discussion with me then why on earth do you spend so much time posting increasingly unbalanced messages on my blog? If I was the loser you suggest I doubt whether you'd be wasting so much time on me.

Your Blog, which you invited people to view, contains your thoughts and ramblings. You invites people to comment. I have asked my aunty Evelyn, whose advice I respect, to look at what you and I have written and to tell me honestly whether my comments are unbalanced or not. She said that I had been a bit political [she doesn't like politics] and that you were a bit too fond of blowing your own trumpet [she likes modesty] but otherwise it was ok.
You musn't get paranoid about criticism - there is a world outside the small tight band of political supporters who tell you what they think that you want to hear.

people sometimes come to me and ask me: "Dctor, how does one diagnose terminal narcissism. I generally sit them down in a chair and say: "Well m'dears let's see, if you have someone who spends his whole life whizzing around both in virtual space and in North Norfolk, saying 'Look at me!" and that person then embarks upon hour upon hour of mindless activity funded by an off-shore multimillionaire, then this could well be a good description."
