How embarrassing. Justin Webb is reporting that President Obama is trying to get the Queen invited to the D Day commemorations. What a humiliation for Gordon Brown. Yesterday he told Andrew Marr that questions about this should be addressed to Buckingham Palace. Today he seemed to blame the French. I could make further comment, but best not...

Until around Saturday, something of a "Where's Gordon?" meme was developing. Nobody had any idea where our unelected despot was residing. Indeed, no one seemed to know if Brown was still alive, or if he'd just been spending the previous few days on his rocking horse.
ReplyDeleteNow that he has come out of the bunker and done a series of interviews, I wish he had stayed in hiding. The man really is a complete, utter and total hoon*. There truly is no politician who I hate more than Brown, and that takes some beating. Is there nothing he won't say, nothing he won't do in order to make sure nobody tries to blame him for his own stupidity and idiocy?

Gordon Brown truly is incredible. Just when I think he has reached rock bottom he manages to mess something else up to an almost inconceivable extent. Is there any part of the UK and its people that is safe from the baleful influence of this living Jonah?
ReplyDeleteI'm not a Royalist, but even I was disgusted with Brown. The current situation is that the Queen is the head of state. She was alive during the war, her home was bombed and her future husband was fighting abroad to rid us of the threat of Nazism. She has more right to be there than him. I bet he advised the French not to invite her.

ReplyDeleteThey clearly believe Guido Fawkes when he talks about the curse of the "one-eyed son of the manse". I saw a picture of Brown holding a baby in the Mail on Sunday yesterday. I'm terrified to imagine what might happen to that child were the curse to take effect once more.
I hope she tells the lot of them to get stuffed and decides to hold a parade in London followed by a public 'walkabout' in Trafalgar Square .... it will dominate the news here and send a nice message to miniSarkozy about our history.

ReplyDeletei don't think the queen would go now, they've missed the boat (or is it landing craft?) for inviting her. sarkozy could have rang her personally and said he assumed his staff had sorted that out as it was that obvious to invite her, and say he was personally sorry. the current situation with obama, i can only imagine that it is like finding out you weren't invited to the party and your mate is having a word with the host.
ReplyDeleteIt may have escaped your notice but the most important event in the sporting calendar takes place this Saturday : namely The Derby at Epsom. As per every year since she ascended to the throne (bar 5 years ago for the DDay 60th events) the Queen will be in attendance.

Gordon Brown is responsible for this whole fiasco. The Queen ought to be present because the remaining veterans are of a generation which were loyal to the Crown and HRH.

ReplyDeleteI don't think Obama does. They are both fickle politicians but Obama has the nouse and stature to make it appear he is leading efforts to get HM to the do. It is not his responsibility it is Brown's but Brown made up his mind months ago and will not change it.
I'm sure the Royal Marines could get HM to the beaches of Normandy quite quickly...
On a more positive note, when The Queen attends the 75th anniversary neither Sarko or Broon will be remembered save as a faint distasteful memory. Unless, of course, the Mendacious Manseman is finally released from broadmoor thet weekend.
