It seems an age since we've had a list on this site (stop moaning at the back), so I thought as a special reward for making this the best week ever for traffic on the blog, you deserved something special. Why do people in politics have such questionable tastes in music? The same can be said of footballers, lawyers & estate agents but somehow never hairdressers!

ReplyDeleteI have to say Iain, I have compiled lists of my favourite songs in regards to Top 7, Top 10, even Top 12. But never Top 100. Just glad you didn't tag anyone, least of all me! ;-)
ReplyDeleteWe're about the same age so I'd be expecting to see a lot more 70's stuff or are we to expect more from Erasure, Morrissey, Madge, Pet Shop Boys, Marc Almond, Divine, Joan Armatrading, Marilyn, Freddie, Jimmy Somerville, Dusty Springfield ....... or how about some Judas Priest?

ReplyDeleteWhere's the blues? The most significant, in any way possible, form of music created by man. It's got the lot from pathos to anger, deprivation to wealth and those guys certainly could brew up a storm. Watch clips of Muddy Waters in action from all those years back which then cut to females, especially white, in the audience. They were open mouthed and wide eyed in awe as he did his knowing hipness. As for trancending and thus reaching out to non specific race, age and gender they did more than any politician could hope for in their wildest dreams.
