How can true Conservatives be duped by the Obama facade?
Your Grace, I'm not an Obama aficionado, but I'm terrified by the prospect of a tired, rambling and not especially gifted old boy of 72 being elected, with that twit of a woman as 2IC.

What ever you think about Obama he does look and act the part. If a Black president needed to be cast for the West Wing that's who they would pick.

Bizarre, but even more fascinating is that although there are hundreds of hits if you Google "my fellow prisoners" there is next to no comment that I can find from the American MSM. It's as if there's a collective cringe of embarrassment and denial from institutional America. I am no apologist for British papers but the American approach seems appallingly subservient to the so-called Washington elite.

Funny that -- 'cos it was the Democrat Clinton who forced -- forced by legislation - banks, banks backed by state supported Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, to lend money to bad risks. All these bad risks were bundled up and sold off.
Going back to 1999 it was the NY Times who pointed out that this might be OK in good times but will sow the seeds of disaster when the financial good times dipped.
Of course Dolly does not want us all to be remained of that -- and of course good old Dolly does not want you to remember that the regulation of the British banks who finally ended up with all these bundles was the responsibility of the British FSA - created and monitored by one G.Brown Esq.

The simple fact is that we have been living in la-la land for the last 20 years - the fantasy in the US and UK particularly being that we could all have as much credit as we liked irrespective of prodictivity, manufacturing base, etc. The huge City growth simply reflected that fantasy. Credit derivatives trading has been the most extreme case of it. The latter became so huge it is now about to render all financial instutions everywhere completely insolvent. Maybe in the future we will have learned a lesson here and stopped trying to just make money from money and return to actually making things.
It will soon be time to return to gardening one's own vegetable plot and keeping a few sheep, just as people did after the collapse of the Roman Empire trading system.
Take a look at Obama's website to find out what he stands for. it's pretty clear, he stands for a lot, he has detailed policies and a workable vision - indeed it appears an increasing amount of americans agree with him.
