On the Game in Chelmsford

From the show with Ann Widdecombe in Chelmsford last night...

ID: So when ITV ask you to do these programmes, how do you judge whether to do them?

AW: Well, when they asked me to do prostitution, I readily agreed... [cue audience collapsing with laughter]

It really was a cracking evening last night. The theatre was sold out, with more than 500 people packed in. The repartee worked a treat, to the extent that one man said to me afterwards: "You are so easy together. Are you an item?" Miss W was a bit too quick to reply: "We most certainly are not!" He didn't look convinced...

LoL - Must be a special kind of interest program! You would think they would break Ann in gently rather than exposing her to ways of life that she might find difficult to contend with seeing. That said I suppose that is the special interest watching someone observe lifestyles and "Business" they find hard to equate too.

I saw a snipit from one program and I think Ann managed to turn some of the working girls away from it IIRC!

  3. You are one of the strangest odd couples I've ever heard of in real life - are you genuinely friends, or do you just go along to get along, so to say?

Isn't AW a fundamentalist Christian? And so therefore believes your "soul" is damned to hell?

  5. 3.11 pm: the theatre is sold out with over 600. Now it's "over 500". Nick Clegg's not the only one who can't count ;)

Iain's two statements are not incompatible.

  9. Told you she's a bit frisky. But what with the Halifax 'going down' there'll be a few more having to get on the game....

  11. On the figures, I was told last week it had sold out and 600 were coming. When I got there yesterday they told me it had sold out and the capacity was 501!

As to whether we are doing any more, yes, but I will tell you when they are booked. Ann does some on her own. I think the next one is in Reading.

  12. Was the rumour of Ann resigning her seat shortly mentioned at all?

Some seem to think this will occur soon, but there is no real proof yet.
