I'm having a night off tonight and I have just been to the launch of the new biography of David Cameron by Francis Elliott and James Hanning at Westminster School. Buy it HERE.
It was interesting to see Home Office Minister Tony McNulty there. We had a chat about our mutual love ... for West Ham and I ribbed him about sitting 30 feet above me in the Directors' Box. He assured me he has a season ticket.
I asked him what on earth he was doing at the event and he said he was representing the family firm as his brother is fitting the roof to David Cameron's new house. And there was me mulling over a defection...

Because you saw him in the director's box he's defecting? Brought the roof down that one!
I like Tony McNulty. As a former professor of organisational behaviour, I was impressed with the way that he held firm against (his PPS) Khalid Mahmood and Tom Watson when they attempted a cack-handed mutiny. Tony does well to brush off the regular barbs from his failed comrades (such as Watson on his blog) in such good humour.
Why are so many Conservatives obsessing about defections at present? Is this a regarded as a viatl indicator of having broken through the electoral glass ceiling or just an indiction of old scores to settle?
Auntie Flo'
Isn't McNulty the idiot that thinks we should wave our arms and jump up and down to deter muggers?
Guido 'reveals his sources' Fawkes!
Guido looks a tit !!
Er, Ian. On Politicos, you've said that the NORMAL price is £10.99 and you're offering it for £16.14 -a saving of £2.84! Eh?!
Sounds like a penalty of £5.15 to me!
Unless of course you mean the normal price was £18.99, in which case, you would be right :-)
Sorry to be pedantic, but such errors do not do you justice!
A biography FFS?? Why? It's not as if he's actually achieved much yet - other than pissing-off a lot of traditional Tory voters of course.
Was McNUlty's bro responsible for fitting the turbine the wrong way round so it's had to be taken down?

I was there too, and heard about the wind turbine in the speeches with the introduction 'here is a story for all the diarists who will be looking for something to write.'
how obliging iain. but what wd guido say?
As the speeches begun I was talking to McNulty and he had just told me the story. Check it with him if you like! mcnultyt@parliament.uk
Is that a bit like being briefed over lunch by a Minister just before he makes a statement?
BBC News item
Poor fella can't even tilt at his own windmill anymore...
According to BBC News, "... the turbine and solar panels would contribute to more than 30% of Mr Cameron's energy bills."
Yeh, right. Maybe, for about 1% of the time when the wind is blowing at just the optimal velocity and so on....
And what does all this cost, both in terms of money and in terms of CO2 used in manufacturing and installation?
Tony McNulty is the biggest idiot to walk the earth. His comment to the press after a suspected terrorist absconded from his control order was;
"He wasnt a direct threat to the UK"
What an utter chimp, I have yet to hear a sensible word from him. He was on QT once and i was physically embarrassed for him
