Sadly I own neither hobnail boots nor trackie-bottoms, so any apercu damage is entirely due to the comfy slippers I wear as I potter about waiting for old age to start.towcestarianhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15092802492560172339noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6214838.post-1155450796229373682006-08-13T07:33:00.000+01:002006-08-13T07:33:00.000+01:00Sorry, was ironing my trackie bottoms. Next time I'll use my phone bill money to buy a TIVO.

Someone help me here: If the life expectancy's 76, why is 44 not middle-aged?

Tone: for the record "Massey Ferguson Combine Harvester model 525" is a classic and, thus, never out of place.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6214838.post-1155449820618392782006-08-13T07:17:00.000+01:002006-08-13T07:17:00.000+01:00My wife and I were watching what turned out to be ...My wife and I were watching what turned out to be a very entertaining (in a "guilty pleasures" sort of way) Jackie Chan movie on BBC1.

As I find your blog very amusing in places, I wanted to see what you looked and sounded like for the first time. So I especially sent my wife upstairs to watch the end of Jackie Chan (ooh missus) while I watched BBC News 24 downstairs at 11.45.

It was interesting to see you with Michael Brown - you made an .....interesting pair...especially when it came to commenting on the comparative torsoes of Cameron and Blair and the lady presenter (who is very capable by the way) had to rein you both in. Very funny.

I also think you wore an excellent jacket and tie combination. Too often we see grey or black jackets and boring ties. Especially in summer it is a pleasure to see a brighter and more informal combination like yours.

You covered some interesting points.

I also think you are most fortunate in your accent. Too many Conservative spokespeople have annoying posh accents. Your accent is beautifully flat and everyday - and therefore does not grate and is most welcome on the television or radio. You need to "um" and "err" and hesitate a bit less. You got better as it went on.

Unfortunately television is all about vision. That's why I have a great face for radio and would only be seen dead on TV if it was to impersonate an ugly light bulb. You looked absolutely knackered, especially when contrasted to Michael Brown who seemed to have accidentally swallowed a bottle of "ProPlus". I would suggest three hours sleep before your next appearance.

But otherwise I was glad I stayed up to at last see what you look like on one of your famous media tarting stints.Paul Walterhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00525444717679391831noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6214838.post-1155432142802813862006-08-13T02:22:00.000+01:002006-08-13T02:22:00.000+01:00towcestarian said: "Verity thinks you have a midd...towcestarian said: "Verity thinks you have a middle-age attitude at 44, Iain."

I don't mind being held to account, but don't make things up.
