And as I have written on my own blog, I personally think he (and Blair) should now go to enable Labour to make a fresh start.

But that doesn't alter the fact that a large amount of the vitriol directed at him from the media classes stems from the fact that he is a working-class boy who had the temerity to think he had as much right to run the country as they did.

His achievement in becoming DPM in the face of that prejudice is, genuinely, one of the most remarkable political stories of modern times.

You don't really believe this tosh, you're a wind-up merchant right?Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6214838.post-1153228257060707202006-07-18T14:10:00.000+01:002006-07-18T14:10:00.000+01:00Mr Linford, when you write "His achievement in beco...Mr Linford,

when you write "His achievement in becoming DPM in the face of that prejudice is, genuinely, one of the most remarkable political stories of modern times." you are certainly correct

It is genuinely remarkable that in today's world, such a philandering, lying, over-bearing bully could rise to a position of such power.

I could just about understand it if he were good at his job, but he isn't even close to being mediocre at what he does.

Everything that Blair has reluctantly trusted him with has had to be taken away again because it is beyond his severely limited capabilities. If Prescott was working in the private sector, he'd have been sacked for gross incompetence years ago

And I get so fed up by people claiming that criticism of his mangled syntax and utter inability to express himself is merely snobbery. How patronising to assume that because he's working class he is therefore unable to speak properly. If he cannot clearly and succinctly argue a point then he shouldn't be in a profession where that ability is paramount.

He is a sop to old labour and nothing more (understandable really as Blair wouldn't want someone effective and clever representing them ). All Prescott has been is a drain on this country's resources.

He adds no value whatsoever (well, apart from as a source of amusement)Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6214838.post-1153227992658716072006-07-18T14:06:00.000+01:002006-07-18T14:06:00.000+01:00Not yet getting an ASBO from the House. Not yet getting an ASBO from the House.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6214838.post-1153225648693011442006-07-18T13:27:00.000+01:002006-07-18T13:27:00.000+01:00to rise to the second highest office in the land? ... to rise to the second highest office in the land?

It is not an office merely a titleAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6214838.post-1153224976734761022006-07-18T13:16:00.000+01:002006-07-18T13:16:00.000+01:00Paul Linford is being good today, perhaps I wrote ...Paul Linford is being good today, perhaps I wrote it.

Very true though but let's not forget John Major who rose to the very top and subsequently to Edwina.

John will go when John says so and not before.

GaryAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6214838.post-1153221581611040122006-07-18T12:19:00.000+01:002006-07-18T12:19:00.000+01:00But his greatest achievement is yet to come - When...But his greatest achievement is yet to come - When he spills the beans on Blair and Brown, the Gilbert and George of British PoliticsAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6214838.post-1153221134546702322006-07-18T12:12:00.000+01:002006-07-18T12:12:00.000+01:00Common Purpose, run from DCLG (ex ODPM) - the EU's...Common Purpose, run from DCLG (ex ODPM) - the EU's new cadre for the takeover of Britain.

Their members already hold positions of power and influence in the Government Offices, Regional Assemblies, Police (one Cressida Dick is allegedly a CP member), and allegedly virtually control Plymouth City Council.
