My response to this is: like any gamble, it has a chance of paying off...are you, Labour, therefore in effect saying that this approach might in fact work?Unknownhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07990741157633455625noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6214838.post-49518070253634601662010-10-20T11:50:14.519+01:002010-10-20T11:50:14.519+01:00Sound money and politicians operating a monopoly d...Sound money and politicians operating a monopoly don't go together!

One needs to end the monopoly over issuing currency in the UK to ensure that sound money has a hope.Roger Thornhillhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03591327286533118901noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6214838.post-39633242057490676912010-10-20T11:38:06.260+01:002010-10-20T11:38:06.260+01:00Sound money is something we haven't had in a l...Sound money is something we haven't had in a long time. Fractional reserve banking means that we allow ourselves to have an economy built on debt. If money is only generated from pressing computer buttons there will be days of reckoning as we have now.

Northern Rock had no assets to speak of yet the depositors were led to believe that their money was safe in that bank. Their money was actually somewhere in cyberspace, fractionally reserved, making the bank millions by lending out what they didn't have. Add a whole bunch of toxic debt, bought second-hand from shysters on Wall Street who in turn had seduced the hapless homeless into purchasing sub-prime mortgages and you have a recipe guaranteed to give disaster to all except the perpetrators of the scam.

I hope George Osborne has one eye out for dealing with the fractional reserve banking con artists.Arden Foresterhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03209824268395133604noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6214838.post-24766335235684688362010-10-20T11:31:29.472+01:002010-10-20T11:31:29.472+01:00Indeed, and I have always opposed quantitative eas...Indeed, and I have always opposed quantitative easing.Iain Dalehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03270146219458384372noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6214838.post-10037704281683127792010-10-20T11:22:35.341+01:002010-10-20T11:22:35.341+01:00Sound money and quantitative easing don't real...Sound money and quantitative easing don't really go together.Guido Fawkeshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15091277669318213298noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6214838.post-64437147590725233702010-10-20T11:18:39.224+01:002010-10-20T11:18:39.224+01:00Sound money?
