Councils Which Have No LibDems

Anyone care to post a list of Councils that have not a single LibDem councillor on them? I know Westminster is one...

Barking and Dagenham, Enfield, Newham, Merton, Kensington and Chelsea, Bexley, Hammersmith and Fulham, Wansdworth and Croydon are the Lib Dem free zones in London. And long may they prosper.....

Indeed - Bexley certainly isn't. I discivered my other half voted LibDem! Why, I asked? Becuase yellow is the colour of custard and the sun, she retorted. Thank God for a well-educated electorate!

In Hertfordshire, Broxbourne is the only council with none.

Before Iain gets too smug, perhaps we should remember Tory-free Newcastle, where the Conservatives garnered a hugely impressive 9.5% of the vote last Thursday.

Inamicus and how many Tories were there before last week. Can we now have a list of the Lib Dem free councils that did have Lib Dem Cllrs before the elections last week?

Not a case in point, but I love the fact that Harrow lost 2 out of 3 LibDem councillors despite the fact they fought a full slate this time round (4 years ago someone messed up the nomination papers and all bar 3 were prevented from standing). In fact I believe that Harrow LibDems have gone from 27 to 9 to 3 to 1 in the last 4 elections!

Iain, Great Yarmouth Borough Council is Lib Dem free. Since last Thursday there are 22 Conservatives, 16 Labour and 1 Independent Conservative.

Rotherham has no lib dems.

Another which is interesting is where there are no Labour councillors. They lost their last three councillors in Sutton last week, which had all been safe Labour wards for as long as anyone can remember...

My home town of Melton Mowbray has a large majority of Conservatives on the borough council, and 0 Liberal Democrats! (Unfortunately though my ward returned a Labour councillor).

27-9-3-1, Hannibal?

Isn't that one of those mysterious number sequences so beloved of Da Vinci Code fanatics? Some sinister Opus Dei plot to get them out, perhaps?

The public needs to know!

The ones I know of
Adur (Sussex)
Runnymede (Surrey)
Great Yarmouth
Hyndburn
West Lancashire
Barrow in Furness
Amber Valley

note - no Lib Dem stood in Bassetlaw

CCHQ is likely to post 2006 results which should show the standings of the parties in councils contested this time.

Do you really wanna know?

Take the data from Keith Edkin's site, cut and paste it into Excel (Other Spreadsheets are Available) then use the sort function.

E&OE, dunno whether Keith has updated for this year yet.

A yes - but there is a Lib Dem councillor in Bassetlaw - just the one, so muct be lonely.

I can add that at the General Election the Lib Dems didnt put a single piece of paper out in Bassetlaw

Manchester, Newcastle, Liverpool... oh, wait...

The sequence 27-9-3-1 has each number a third of the previous one. Which is probably why Mr Lecter is so interested in the potential third of a councillor next time

Anonymous said...

There is East Northamptonshire which has 33 Conservatives and 3 Labour and wellingborough which has 26 Conservatives, 9 Labour and one vacancy.

David Surtees said...

There are no LDs on East Northamptonshire DC which has 33 Conservatives and 3 Labour nor on Wellingborough BC which has 26 Conservatives, 9 Labour and one vacancy.

Like Kate said, Broxbourne. 34 Conservative, 2 Labour, 1 BNP. Probably the most right-wing constituency in the Queen's land.
